Health Canada now requires all cosmetic companies to advise their customers of potential fragrance related allergens that are contained in their products at certain concentrations. This allows consumers to identify ingredients to which they may be allergic or sensitive, or wish to avoid, helping them make more informed health decisions regarding product purchase and use.

We do not use fragrance oils in any of our products, therefore you will never see the term "fragrance" or "parfum" in our ingredient lists. This does make our job easier than other makers who use fragrance oils as these tend to contain more of these potential allergens than essential oils. 

Some essential oils do still contain potential allergens that are contained within Health Canada's list of fragrance allergens - so any of the allergens listed below are contained within the essential oils that are used to scent our products.

Why We Use It

We have chosen to formulate our Body Butter as a water based product rather than oil based. We found that a water based formula soaks into the skin faster and doesn't sit on top like many body butter products on the market. Traditional oil based body butters struggle to keep proper consistency and will melt in warmer temperatures, during shipping etc. Distilled water is used as the base of this product combined with two humectants (glycerin and propanediol) that help to draw the moisture from the distilled water into the skin.

Why We Use It

Plant based + ECOCERT Olivem 1000 is included in this formula to provide a stable emlusion - blending the water and oil components together. Without this ingredient, the formula would separate. Olivem 1000 is a natural emulsifier - we have chosen the most gentle one for use on the face. It is plant based, derived from coconuts that is free from parabens, phthalates and petroleum.

Natural Emollient, Helps Product Soak in Quickly + Spread Beautifully

Why We Use It

Coco Caprylate is an ECOCERT approved smooth spreading plant based emollient derived from coconuts that we add to products to improve how quickly and easily the product is absorbs to the skin. Without this ingredient in some of our formulas, carrier oils alone can sit on top of the skin and leave a greasy skin feel. It also helps products spread nicely across the skin without drag. This is a high quality and very expensive ingredient but one that is well worth adding as an alternative to synthetic silicones. We use it in many of our products for an elevated final product.

Why We Use It

Plant based Propanediol acts is known as a humectant which means it draws moisture into the skin, providing deep hydration. Why We Use It

This formula is water based therefore it requires a broad spectrum preservative to keep the product from growing bacteria and mold. We have chosen Optiphen Plus which is one of the most effective broad spectrum preservatives, but still free from parabens phtlatates and formaldehyde.

Yes absolutely - I apply Day Shift Face Cream to my face right after cleansing. Follow up with our Nourish Facial Oil. I then give a spritz of our Refresh Setting Spray which also acts as a make up primer. Let that dry briefly and proceed with your daily make up

A small scoop that is enough to generously cover your face and don't forget your neck!

Honestly - keep it simple. You don't need a 10 step routine to take care of your skin. What I would recommend as absolute musts are the Nourish Facial Oil along with our Day Shift and Night Shift face creams. If you use another brand that's totally cool too - just take a peek at those ingredient labels to make sure they aren't full of unnecessary ingredients and most importantly synthetic fragrances or "parfum". We don't even use essential oils in most of our face products.

While it would be nice to offer a daily face cream with SPF benefits, small businesses like ours cannot make these claims without strict lab testing which costs thousands of dollars. We know sun exposure is a hot topic right now - we recommend using a trusted facial sunscreen alongside this product if limiting sun exposure is important to you.
