  • Wash Rinse Repeat! Our bars work best with a double wash. The first application really gets all the crud and styling products and the second wash produces a way nicer lather that provides that salon quality feel to the hair. Simply wet the bar and rub between the hands to create the lather and then apply that lather to the hair including roots and ends. Rinse clean.
  • Follow up with our conditioner bars
  • Store away from direct exposure to water to increase the number of washes
  • This shampoo bar will last for approximately 2-3 months depending on how often you wash your hair

Health Canada now requires all cosmetic companies to advise their customers of potential fragrance related allergens that are contained in their products at certain concentrations. This allows consumers to identify ingredients to which they may be allergic or sensitive, or wish to avoid, helping them make more informed health decisions regarding product purchase and use.

We do not use fragrance oils in any of our products, therefore you will never see the term "fragrance" or "parfum" in our ingredient lists. This does make our job easier than other makers who use fragrance oils as these tend to contain more of these potential allergens than essential oils.

Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate is a gentle, coconut-derived surfactant used to create a rich, creamy lather without sulfates. It effectively cleanses hair and scalp while maintaining moisture, making it ideal for sensitive skin and color-treated hair. Often referred to as the baby surfactant because it is mild + gentle on skin and hair. This product comes in a powdered form which is ideal for creating a hard shampoo bar. Works well with both soft and hard water.

Why We Use It

Cocamidopropyl Betaine is a mild, coconut-derived surfactant used to produce lather + foam and help wash your hair. It creates rich, stable lather and makes your hair soft. We have combined Cocamidopropyl Betaine, which comes in liquid form, with two other powdered surfactants to get the best lather and cleansing properties in our shampoo bars.

SLSA is a mild, and Ecocert-approved, coconut-derived surfactant used in our shampoo bars to create a luxurious, creamy lather without stripping hair. Not to be confused with SLS which contains sulfates, SLSA is sulfate free and considered a natural alternative to SLS. SLSA comes in a powdered form which works well in our shampoo bars.

Our Shampoo Bars are not formulated with water but they do come in contact with water when our customers use them to wash their hair - therefore a preservative is required to protect this formula from mold and bacteria. We have chosen Geogard ECT, which works well and is considered to be a natural preservative and ECOCERT approved.

I never would have believed that I would ditch my salon shampoo - I have always been very picky about my shampoo and spent A LOT of money on high quality salon hair products in my lifetime.

Since creating my own shampoo + conditioner bars I am proud to say that I have completely eliminated the salon shampoos from my routine (and my bank account!)

I personally use the Shampoo Bar for Build Up and it works like a dream in my normally dry hair - paired with the Conditioner Bar and I also use the Scalp Oil about every other time I wash my hair. Not only are these bars effective and natural - they last so long it takes me forever to get through them.

The main thing is to keep it dry - out of the shower stream of others using the shower and ideally on a drip tray so that it doesn't sit in water when not in use.

If you are using it just for travel, we recommend making sure the bar is completely dried out before packing it away.

We offer several shampoo bar accessories as options to help keep your bars dry so they last a long time.

Because the bars are solid, they can be packed in your carry on. They are lightweight and the shampoo bar can also double as a body wash bar and even use it as a shave bar in a pinch. Especially good for short trips where one bar can do the job of three products!
