Health Canada now requires all cosmetic companies to advise their customers of potential fragrance related allergens that are contained in their products at certain concentrations. This allows consumers to identify ingredients to which they may be allergic or sensitive, or wish to avoid, helping them make more informed health decisions regarding product purchase and use.

We do not use fragrance oils in any of our products, therefore you will never see the term "fragrance" or "parfum" in our ingredient lists. This does make our job easier than other makers who use fragrance oils as these tend to contain more of these potential allergens than essential oils. 

Some essential oils do still contain potential allergens that are contained within Health Canada's list of fragrance allergens - so any of the allergens listed below are contained within the essential oils that are used to scent our products.

Why We Use It

Sweet Almond Oil is a highly emollient, nutrient-rich oil that hydrates + softens the skin. It is rich in Vitamin E, fatty acids, and antioxidants, making it excellent for soothing dry + sensitive skin. It is lightweight and non-comedogenic so it won't clog pores. Sweet Almond Oil is one of our most commonly used carrier oils in our products.

Why We Use It

Mango Butter is highly emollient, non-comedogenic, and nutrient-dense fat derived from mango seeds, rich in vitamins A, C, and E, as well as fatty acids. It deeply moisturizes, boosts skin elasticity, reduces inflammation, and acts as an antioxidant to fight free radical damage. Its lightweight, non-greasy texture works well on all skin types.

Why We Use It

Cetyl Alcohol actually does not contain alcohol despite its name, instead it is a plant based natural ingredient derived from coconuts.

Ritamulse SCG is a naturally derived ingredient that is plant based, derived from coconuts that is free from parabens, phthalates and petroleum.

Why We Use It

Although this formula does not contain water, it will come into contact with water in the shower - therefore it requires a broad spectrum preservative to keep the product from growing bacteria and mold. We have chosen Optiphen Plus which is one of the most effective broad spectrum preservatives, but still free from parabens phtlatates and formaldehyde.

When we package the Sugar Scrub it has a looser consistency but it hardens up over time with the addition of mango butter and cetyl alcohol which are solid at room temperature.

This has been formulated by design to ensure that the scrub isn't loose and sloppy. When you scoop the scrub out of the jar, we made it so it won't slop down onto your shower floor. It is pliable and has beautiful texture.

When you dip your warm fingers in to the jar, the scrub softens up. Because the Sugar Scrub holds its shape you should be able to apply this nicely all over your body without dripping it on the shower surface.

As the scrub is applied to the wet skin, the formula will begin to melt on contact, creating a beautiful exfoliating lotion like feeling on your wet skin.

So although it looks solid we believe that the harder texture will help with application and still feel lovely on the skin.

Absolutely not.

We find it is the perfect after feel on the skin - leaving it moisturized and smooth without the greasy residue that can be found with some scrubs.

We have formulated this product with lightweight Sweet Almond Oil and soft mango butter to give the perfect combination of ingredients to make your skin smooth and soft without greasiness.

Thanks for noticing! Our Sugar Scrub comes in its natural color - and that is by design We ensure our products are made with minimal + mindful ingredients - so when we formulate we assess each ingredient for its purpose - if it doesn't serve a purpose other than looking pretty, we leave it out. Our products do not contain any dyes or micas as these ingredients serve no purpose other than being a colorant. Which simply is not necessary. We like to let our formulas shine in their natural color and instead we make our packing colorful!.
